Taekwondo world champion being threatened

I was rather surprised when I came across this news. Chu Mu Yen, Taekwondo world champion and Olympic gold medalist was being blackmailed by group of people who accused him of visiting of indecent sites and places. He was also accused of having a relationship with a girl he chatted online. What turned out worse was that, these people called him and threatened to kill his entire family.

They also had threatened to make public claims of him having the relationship with the unknown girl. Chu defended himself saying that he had chatted with many strangers online but he never knew who she really is except that she is only one of her fans. Known as "Cher", the police suspect that she is part of the criminal ring.
She turned up after allegations about Chu were made and a conversation between her and
Chu which is thought to be steamy was recorded.

He was accompanied to the news conference to clarify the matter by his senior teammate and Olympic silver medalist Huang Chih-hsiung , who is now a Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) lawmaker. Huang also defended the gold medalist's character.

With more about what they said in the press you can read it at Taipei times. Chu is now in the midst of the preparation for the next Olympic games.
