Photobucket

The slide back footwork is one of the most common and important footwork as it enables the player to dodge away and aiming for an opportunity to counter. The action of the footwork has to be swift and nibble.

The gauging of the distance when applying is another key factor and this requires more training and experience to do so unless one just have the talent in the sport less training may be required but the more one train the more it get better or to maintain the the standard.

There are several things to note when applying this footwork and it shall be discussed in depth here:

a) The player should move by using the back foot first. Some's natural reaction is to move the front foot first then follow by the back foot but this may actually cost the movement to slow down as the body will not get to move first. In turn, the body may get hit still while attempting to move back.

b) After moving the back foot first, your front foot will actually be moved or dragged naturally. This should be the correct method of applying this footwork.
