Many people ask how do one kick faster? How to increase speed? As Taekwondo is a sport where the faster kicker certainly have an obvious advantage, many seeks to find a way of increasing the speed of kicking. One way and the most traditional way is to - kick more. Of course other things can help too and they might help increasing speed in a faster way than just to kick more. Things i remembered once mentioned by a National player I met was to put elastic band and to kick slowly and to feel the pull and gradually increase speed but take cautious of not snapping the band.
Another way perhaps is to do tuck-jumps which can be quite effective and easier. Jump up and lift your knees up to your chest level. Do it as fast as possible 20 times per set.
Some even said speed is sometimes in someone due to the genes whether one has fast twitch muscle. To a certain extent it is true however speed can still be trained up to reach a limit but be careful not to overdo any exercise to avoid injury. One may not need to be the fastest to be the champion. Tactics are still the important factors.
