Pan America Taekwondo Championship will be the last classification for former World Champions to have a place in the Olympics. Former world taekwondo champions Angel Valodia, from Cuba, and brother and sister Mark and Diana Lopez, from the U.S., are among the athletes that will participate in the Pan American championship. Apart from Valodia, the Pan American championship will have another Cuban, Mirna Eechavarria, champion of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and several times world champion, who sees himself as the renovation of taekwondo in Cuba. It seems like with so many World Champions in the competition, the matches are to be interesting.
