Southeast Asia's hope at the Olympics

Elaine Teo, the Malaysia representative for Taekwondo at the Olympic qualifying round despite being entered in the wrong category by the Malaysia Taekwondo Association, she managed to won the place to the Olympics. Her counterpart, Che Chew Chan have also ensured Malaysia will be represented in taekwondo at the Beijing Olympics after safely negotiating the Asian Olympic qualifying tournament in Ho Chi MInh City a week before the Sea Games.

In the sea games, both later went on to win gold in Korat as Elaine, who qualified for her second Olympics, reverted to her original below 51kg category having fought in Vietnam in the below-57kg category, no thanks to a blunder by an MTA official.

These two representatives certainly stands a good chance to bring Southeast Asia sports to the world stage.
