Taekwondo take on the educational side
Taekwondo is considered a sport of Korea because it was originated from there but the President of WTF says it should not limit just to Korea. Now because of the impact it has on children more parents like their children to learn and in China, Taekwondo has been part of the programme in elementary levels. In my opinion when the art gets more popular and bigger, it is also time for practitioners to display correct attitude and set good examples for the juniors and this does not imply only to the skills and compeitions of Taekwondo but their character.

Memories from the Olympic 2008 Taekwondo
Have you ever wonder what these Olympians will be doing? Perhaps life will be back to normal. They have to train perhaps they have retired or even have become coaches themselves. But moments of what they did and what they have achieved will always stay.

Taekwondo kick or wrestling kick?

This picture shows of one Taekwondo Olympian doing a high jump kick with both legs in the end aiming to kick the other Olympian. The kick looks like he is doing a wrestling kick where wrestlers jump up and use both of their legs to kick the opponent. But perhaps he is actually doing a double turning or a flying side kick.

A proper backthrust
The backthrust is a powerful kick as it kind of uses its body weight to come in. One way to kick properly is to not turn back too much. Another thing I have also realized is that the kicking leg has to keep close to the supporting leg before kicking out. I knew about it but sometimes feel not too comfortable kicking this manner until later I realized the body structure plays a part as the leg has to form sort of a L shape before extending it. Often some might made backthrust into a side kick as they turn too much.

Turning kick in the Olympics
Which is the most common kick used in the tournament? It will still be the versatile turning kick or roundhouse kick which some may call. Besides the force, the sharpness in scoring point that will create a loud and clear sound, there is another it seems which is the sharpness in scoring at the correct distance. After watching the Olympic matches, it may seems to many that it just turning kicks but actually it is the correct distance the athlete get in so fast and kick so accurately to score the point if they miss just a small distance then that's it, they might have missed the point.
